Pediatric Caregiver Program

Caregivers need support, too

Tina and her parents moved from Varanasi to receive treatment at a premier cancer facility with the savings they had and a small loan from a good family friend. They have been staying in Mumbai for the last few months but will likely need to stay on for another two months to complete Tina’s treatment. However, the cost of living in Mumbai is beyond their humble means. With little savings left, Tina’s family will be forced to leave the shelter of their hotel and live on the footpath outside the treatment facility while she continues treatment…

Families of cancer affected children face numerous challenges beyond supporting their recovering child. In addition to the financial burden of medical bills, families like Tina’s must also find safe shelter, convenient transportation, and nutritious food, in an unfamiliar city. The mental and emotional strain can be overwhelming.

ALA’s Impact

We at ALA believe in a world in which no child is separated from their family by resource constraints during the course of their battle against cancer. ALA supports low-income families with nutritious food, safe and clean accommodation, convenient transportation, and a community they can lean on for support.

This allows caregivers to devote their energy to staying emotionally grounded and present in supporting their child fighting cancer. ALA has a dedicated infrastructure in place to support patients and their caregivers:

Five centers provide hygienic accommodation for families

Seventy rooms across all centers give each family the much needed space to rest and recuperate

Basic food provisions and kitchen for families to cook and feed themselves

Five transport vehicles across all centers provide transportation services between the centers and the hospitals

Give The Gift Of Peace of Mind

Imagine the stress that caregivers from low-income families must feel when faced with the challenge to procure approximately ₹40,000 ($500) on a monthly basis. Today, you can put their mind at ease by participating in our “Adopt-a-Family” program. Click the link below to learn more about the families that need your help.

Adopt a Family

ALA’s Adopt a Family program allows you to pay for the expenses of a patient and their family for the duration of their say at one of ALA’s five care centers.

The average cost of stay per family per day is around $12 which covers their accommodation, food, transport, nutritional and educational support at an Access Life Center.

Although the duration of treatment and the stay varies for each child, the average stay at an Access Life center is approximately six months. For $2,250, you can support a family for the duration of their entire stay at an ALA care center.

No matter how long the stay, a family that is supported by Access Life America is never charged a fee. All support services are entirely free to the families, made possible with the charitable contributions of generous donors like you.
